Food is vital to culture and tradition. Ritual meals as offerings are common, especially around the Feast of St. Jude (10.28). Opening one's heart and home to others in thanksgiving and meal sharing. Come to the feast led by "Abuelita" Maribel Tostado (Academic Counseling & Exploration). If you can, bring a dish/snack/dessert/drink to share.
Abuelita Theology: A Celebration of Faith & Traditions
For many in the Latinx community, our faith and traditions are passed down through the generations (and in this case from our grandmothers). Sometimes we've done something for so long, that we're not even 100% sure why we do it. Abuelita Theology seeks to celebrate and unpack the meaning behind these customs and create spaces to share them together on the Hilltop and keep them alive in our lives.
All are welcome! Prefer to speak in Spanish? Welcome! Speak only English? Welcome! Not Latinx? Welcome! Don't have many family traditions? Welcome! Ready to learn and celebrate? WELCOME!
