Doug Smith '94, SEU Alumus, on Imagining Justice Outside the Prison Cell (CEL Speaker Series)

The Center for Ethics and Leadership invites the St. Edward’s and Austin communities to gather over refreshments to discuss this thought-provoking topic of our modern times:

Despite declining crime rates and more than a decade of criminal justice reform, the incarceration rates in the U.S., particularly among people of color, exceed every other developed and all but one developing country in the world. Doug Smith '94, the Senior Policy Analyst from Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, St. Ed's alumus and formerly incarcerated person, will discuss the urgent need to radically downsize the justice system and replace it with systems that promote health, equity, and opportunity.
