Finding and Using Online Course Materials

With the majority of courses in Fall 2021 being taught online or blended/hybrid, using online course materials makes sense. This session will provide an overview of  how to find or create and integrate online textbooks, videos, library materials, Open Educational Resources (OER), resources from disciplinary groups, and other online resources into your course. OER (course materials that are freely available and openly licensed) can be adopted “as-is” or adapted and remixed as needed to meet your specific course learning outcomes. If you are creating your own videos, you will need to consider instructor labor required, optimum length, legibility, accessibility, scripting, sound and video quality, and captioning. For any online resources, considerations include cost, copyright, and ongoing availability, as well as supporting your students’ information literacy and digital reading skills.
